Dalat Morning Market
*** All images taken with Fuji X-Pro 1 and 35mm f1.4 lens ***
Sometimes the planets align perfectly, and I've stumbled across some great local photographers in Dalat. I changed hotels after the first two nights (I can't sleep on a rock hard mattress anymore...) and the walls of my new hotel are adorned with beautiful imagery. I enquired about it and found myself talking to Photographer #1 Lyuen Nyugen (who's family run the Dreams Hotels) who introduced me to his friend Photographer #2 Nhan Nyugen. [The third photographer is the well-known Long Ly]. This is so exciting for me as this means I can tap into a whole new side of Vietnam. Tours never take you to the really interesting places that photographers like to 'discover' and they're definitely not organised with the best light in mind. So at 5.30am this morning Nhan and I set off to the local market to see what we can find. He knows some great vantage points, although he has a full set of gear with him and I can't keep up at times with my Fuji and 35mm lens. I have to shoot in a very different style when I don't have the advantage of a long zoom to shoot from distances. It was really nice to shoot side-by-side with another photographer. The only common language we shared was f-stops and shutter speeds, but this was all we needed :)
If the afternoon rains stop for a day we're planning to head off to a remote village to look for the long-eared ladies. They're a rarity these days so I hope that the weather clears tomorrow, and that we're in luck.
This slideshow of images is what I captured this morning. Please do me a favour and view this on a bigger screen than your phone :)
These make me happy....and hungry! Beautiful shots Lyd.
